Igniter 9Х111/9Х227М5 is eliminating chances of occasional random firing of the missile.

In 1988 the old design 9Х227 was replaced with new protected igniter 9Х111/9Х227М5.

It is very easy to check  the production date of the 122mm missile without dismantling (before or after 1988 it is produced).

Till 1998 the old fuze was 9X227 – igniter M5 RDTT RS 9M22. The missiles produced Before 1988 with old igniter are marked on the side of the rocket engine.

The igniter 9Х111/9Х227М5 is protected from electromagnetic fields and static electricity charges. Unlike the 9X227 igniter, it has a housing with protective electronic. The protection includes a capacitor and two inductive connected to a common LC circuit with MB-2N electric igniters.

The elimination of random currents is as follows: a capacitor connected in parallel with the MB-2N electric ignitors shunts high-frequency currents, and the induction connected in sequence with the MB-2N electric igniters increase the resistance of the circuit to high-frequency currents, which leads to a decrease the random currents flowing through the MB-igniters 2H.
